Your first Botox, done gently.
You do not need to know the units, the muscles or the vocabulary. We start with a conversation, use the smallest amount that gets you where you want to be, and let you decide whether to add more.
Why people choose Botox
Botox relaxes the small muscles that crease your skin when you frown, squint or raise your brows. Less movement means softer lines, and a rested look that still looks like you.
Why people get Botox
Wrinkles are only part of it. Here are the reasons we hear most.
To prevent wrinkles
Resting a muscle that folds your skin again and again can keep early lines from setting in.
To relax lines before they get deep
Lines that are just starting are easiest to soften. Treating them early can keep them from becoming deep creases.
To release tension spots
Your “concentrating face” and other habitual expressions can leave chronic tension in the same spots. Relaxing those muscles can ease it.
Start light. Add only if you want more.
We would rather you come back for a little more than leave with a lot. It is easy to add product, and not possible to take it back.
When will I see results?
Not right away, and that surprises many first-timers. Botox works gradually as it settles into the muscle. Expect the following, with some variation from person to person.
The three things first-timers ask us most
Will it hurt?
Most people describe a quick pinch. The needles are very fine, the injections take only moments, and the discomfort fades as soon as each one is done.
If you are nervous about needles, tell us. We can slow down, talk you through each step and discuss options to make you more comfortable.
Will I bruise?
Sometimes, yes. A small bruise at an injection point is possible and usually minor. It can be covered with makeup and fades within days.
You can lower the chance by telling us about any blood thinners, aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil or supplements you take. Ask your own doctor before changing any medication, and plan treatment a few days ahead of big events.
Will I look frozen or get a heavy brow?
A heavy brow happens when product affects the muscle that lifts the brow. It is best prevented by knowing your anatomy, choosing placement carefully and using a conservative dose.
That is exactly why you want an expert. If something feels off during your follow-up, we will look at it with you. Any effect is temporary.
Good to know before you come
A little preparation helps your visit go smoothly. Your provider will give you instructions specific to you.
